A Maximum Card on the theme "One People, One Nation, One Singapore"
"1 Malaysia" is a prevailing slogan carried everywhere throughout Malaysia - A truly harmonious spirit emphasized for all the major races in Malaysia promoted by the present Malaysian government led by the Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak. A set of stamps with the theme " 1 Malaysia" was issued on 31st August, 2009 to celebrate the country's independence day. Going through the Singapore Stamps, I am surprised to note Singpost issued a set of stamps " Fabric of the nation" in celebration of the country's 40th anniversary in 2007, one of the 40 stamps depicted a slogan " One people, One Nation, One Singapore" which is rather similar to the "1 Malaysia" slogan as widely promoted by the Malaysian Government in 2009. I further discovered an advertisement card issued to celebrate the National Day of Singapore in 2003 also carried the similar slogan " One people, One Nation, One Singapore", I find the stamp and the ad card match well with the theme, and Hence, I realised an MC on the theme " 1 Singapore ". By looking at the MC, I will have to say that " 1 Singapore " existed before " 1 Malaysia ".

I still remember years ago, there were rackcards (ad cards) available at various locations in Kuala Lumpur e.g Fastfood chain outlets, cinemas, shopping centres . During the last 3 years, these cards disappeared completely from the scene. Rackcards used to be a good source of card supply for my creation of maximum cards, without them, the opportunity of realising good MCs is deprived. Rackcards advertising may NOT be popular and accepted by the local business sector, I can see, on the other side of the causeway in Singapore, rackcards are produced in millions in a year - many subjects are depicted on these wonderful rackcards which are most suitable for the creation of variety of MCs. I will like to see in the future, perhaps, rackcards coming back in the Malaysian scene.

Dear President,
With reference to the World Specialised (Maximaphily, Traditional and Literature) Exhibition “CYPRUS 2010” that Cyprus Postal Services together with the Cyprus Philatelic Society planned two years ago for March 2010, I would like to confirm officially what I told you on October 20, in Rome. So far, we have not had the final positive official reply.
Cyprus Postal Services continue to have a positive attitude on the matter, in spite of the worldwide financial crisis. However, as the time to next March is very short, we are now looking at 18 -25 November 2010.
For the same reason, as it was decided in Rome, I will manage to hand over chairman’s duties to my very good Canadian friend and highly awarded maximaphilist George Constantourakis starting from December 1, 2009. I’m sure that my proposal to FIP Board for this eminent personality, since 2008, was the best choice. I will do all my best and give all my support to the new Chairman so that continuity of progress and innovations and increasing trend of Worldwide Maximaphily popularity, as well, will be ensured.

Our idea to establish the Best Maximum Card World Competition turned out to be a successful philatelic innovation.
In a period of seven years worldwide participations increased by well over 100%.

Furthermore, I would like to express my cordial thanks to you for all 9 years excellent cooperation and relationship which led to the outstanding worldwide progress of this popular class of philately. Your diligent example together with your encouragement played a decisive role to the above mentioned results related to the worldwide spreading of philately.
To my friends, former FIP Presidents Knud Mohr and Koh Seow Chuan, former and present Vice Presidents and Directors of FIP Board, FIP Commissions’ Chairmen and all FIP Maximaphily Commission tireless Board members and delegates, I extend my sincere thanks for their cooperation, their interest, their support and their friendly approach.

My heartfelt thanks are extended also to the Continental and all National Federations’ Presidents, Vice Presidents and Bureau Directors and all maximum card exhibitors, collectors and creators for their continuous, fertile, creative and friendly cooperation.
Many collectors dislike advertisement cards (Rack Cards or Ad cards) and are NOT keen of utilising them to realise maximum cards. In fact, many subjects are found on Ad cards and many a times when come to realisation of MCs, the subjects found on post cards are limited, you have no choice BUT to adopt Ad cards. I find Ad cards compliment to my realisation of Maximum Cards, without the Ad cards, many of my wonderful MCs are impossible to be realised. Lately, I had realised a dozen of Taiwan MCs with the "Blessings" stamps on Ad cards, I particularly like the following LOLIPOP MC which I had been hunting high and low for a normal postcard, eventually, Ad Cards complimented to the success realisation of the MC.

Malaysian shines at international stamp event

THE International Competition for the Best Maximum Card introduced in 2004 was held at Southern Paris, France, entitled Maxifrance 2005 from Sept 23 to 25 last year.
Malaysian philatelist Ye Choh San’s card entitled Bullock Cart was awarded the third best maximum card out of 27 participating nations.
Voting for the best Maximum Cards, which started in 2004, attracted some 27 countries and they are Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungry, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Serbia-Montenegro, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain and Switzerland.
All the entries were judged according to the FIP regulations, which take into account the choice of theme, originality, research and maximum degree of visual concordance between the three essential elements in the Philatelic Maximum Card that comprised picture on the card, affixed stamp (linking similar theme) and relevant postmark.

This Maximum Card competition is the second to be introduced by FIP after the World Best Maximum Card competition at the World Stamp Championship 2004 in Singapore. Looking at the maximaphily collectors in Malaysia, it sad to note that few collector show interest in this category of philately.
With Ye’s international success, Persatuan Setem Malaysia feels it could unearth more serious collectors in the future.
The three best Maximum Cards were judged on vote count and the winners were Holland’s Royal Kiss of Love and Simplicity by Ronald van der Leeden, which took the first prize, while second went to Cyprus’s Tenderness of Nature – Dolphins by Nicos Rangos. Third prize went to Ye.
Though maximaphily is relatively new in South East Asia, the hobby is gradually gaining momentum because of the introduction of “one-frame” competitive exhibits.
Collecting maximum cards tend to create an interesting “view” disposition, possibly leading one to narrow their collection into “thematic” philately or “maximaphilately” or even “social” philately.
Maximum cards issued worldwide has depicted several hundreds of topics, and forming collection into any of the three categories mentioned above should not pose any difficulty to beginners. Currently there is an influx of collectors from China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, etc, the competitive challenge is between Europe and Asia.
Yes, there have been numerous complaints on the non return of the maximum cards submitted for the World Best Maximum Card competition. I participated in 2005 for the 2004 World Best MC competition and the MC submitted had NOT been returned by the Commission. The NON return of the MC as regulated by the commission has obviously deterred many MC creators to submit their BEST MCs to compete in the competition. Every MC creator knows the difficulty in looking for an ideal postcard to realise for a concordant MC, hence, with a unique MC created in hand, it is rather difficult to part it for an entry in the World Best MC competition of which the MC will never be returned. Personally, I do NOT understand why the commission does NOT return the MCs to the owner afterall a digital copy will be fine for keeping as records in the files or webpage. I will like to appeal to the FIP Commission of Maximaphily to consider returning MCs submitted by individual collector for the competition, as these MCs are the properties of the individual collectors. I am sure most of the MC collectors will welcome the move by FIP maximaphily commission for returning all the entries back to the owners, and probably, in future the BEST MCs ill be submitted by ALL without any fear of being retained by the organiser.

World Best Maximum Card Competition is a yearly activity organised by the FIP commission of the Maximaphily. Each country is represented by a single Maximum card created during the preceding year. The competition is judged by votes cast by the representatives of the FIP commission of Maximaphily who are present at the exhibition venue. Points allocated for the first position cast is 9 pts, the second position 6 pts and the third 3 pts. The MC with the highest points wins the first prize. A certificate of recognition will be presented to the winner, and the MCs will be permanently on display at the official webpage of the FIP commission of the Maximaphily @ http://www.maximaphily.info/competitions.html . It is regretted to note that the results for the 2006/2007 and the current 2008 World Best MC competitions have NOT been updated at the above webpage.

2008 BEST MAXIMUM CARD WORLD COMPETITION-OCTOBER 24, 2009
During “ITALIA 2009” held in Rome on October 24, the official delegates present were invited to vote, according to the regulations of the World Best Maximum Card Competition, for the three best maximum cards created during the year 2008.
The following forty five (45) countries took part in the competition:
Albania, Aland, Andorra, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria. Canada, China (PR), Chinese Taipei, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, [b]Malaysia,[/b] Moldavia, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and USA.
1st prize went to Nicos Rangos, Cyprus. 2nd prize went to “Les Maximaphiles Français” Association, France and 3rd prize to Nikos Mallouchos, Greece, together with Cesare Rialdy, Italy.
This is a unique postcard with BRAILLEs which can fascilitate the blinds to "read" what is written on the card. Malaysia issued its First BRAILLE stamp, hence, I have taken the opportunity to realise the card with braille with a stamp with braille too!

One Malaysia is a concept and Slogan introduced by the present Prime Minister of Malaysia. It stresses the importance of unity and harmony among Malaysians. Here is an ideal MC realised inaccordance to the theme - 1 Malaysia.
The first submarine of Malaysia KD Tunku Abdul Rahman made its appearance at Pulau Indah, Port Klang on the 3rd September, 2009. It then travelled to Lumut Naval Base before embarking to Sabah Naval Base.
